The Karkonosze and Jizera Mountains are excellent, time-tested arenas for mountain biking. You can choose from loops several dozen kilometers long, as well as routes of around 10 km – on paved roads, forest and field paths, gravel paths, and cobblestone paths.
Intensive work on the region's cycling scene began in 2001, when 278.3 km of trails were established on 12 dedicated routes. The routes are diverse in many key respects. The difficulty level—referring more to the effort required to complete them than to any potential hazards along the way—ranges from 1 to 5 (on a 5-point scale). Some of them pass through areas on the Czech side of the border.
Currently, the areas around Szklarska Poręba, Piechowice, Świeradów-Zdrój and Stara Kamienica have been marked and numbered. 19 bicycle routes with a total length of over 450 kilometers:
The routes mentioned above are primarily loops, primarily intended to explore the region's attractions. There are also national and international trails connecting individual towns and areas of the continent. How can you distinguish between different classes of cycling trails? By painting the markings. Regional routes feature a silhouette of a cyclist and a corresponding number, a national symbol of the bicycle itself, and a black outline around the sign, while European routes are green and bear the name ER.
Of course, there are plenty of rental and service points in the area where specialists will properly prepare your bike for the challenges it will face.
