Another palace for those traveling the trail of castles, palaces, and surrounding buildings, the Schaffgotsch Palace in Cieplice-Zdrój is located in the center of the spa town between Piastowski Square and Spa Park. The monumental residence was built between 1784 and 1788 for Prince Johann Nepomucen Schaffgotsch, replacing the Schaffgotsch family's Renaissance manor house and guesthouse.
It was built using relics of both buildings, which remained after the fire of 1777. The building represents the High Baroque style combined with early Classicist forms. The design was created by Johann Georg Rudolf. Near the palace is a carefully maintained, beautiful, stylish English park.
Currently, the Schaffgotsch Palace houses a branch of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, so tours of the interior are not possible. However, if you're passing through with children or family, it may be worth checking out this historic monument.
