The Museum building was constructed between 1932 and 1936, inspired by the residents of Krummhubel-Karpacz, as a Regional Museum. It operated until 1946, after which it was closed. In the early 1970s, the idea of establishing a Sports and Tourism Museum arose in Karpacz. The Karkonosze Region Sports and Tourism Museum opened in Karpacz in 1974, as a branch of the Sports and Tourism Museum in Warsaw. The Museum's collection consists of exhibits from private individuals, donations and donations, and deposits from other local museums.

Among the Museum's curiosities is the specially constructed foundation, visible on the left side in front of the main entrance. The building's base features rocks found throughout the Sudetes, creating a panoramic cross-section of the Sudetes' geological strata. Each stone is unique. Among the exhibits are granite, basalt, sandstone, mica schist, greenstone, crystalline limestone, quartz gneiss, marl, and hornfels – a strictly protected feature characteristic of Śnieżka's geological structure. An alpine garden has been created around the Museum.

The permanent exhibition showcases an exceptionally interesting collection of skis, ranging from 19th-century skis to the 1950s. There are also horned sleighs, so characteristic of this region during the German era, recreational and racing sleighs, a unique bobsleigh from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, skeleton sleds, skibobs, and more. The collection related to Karkonosze laboratory technicians is absolutely unique. It includes cauldrons of herbs, vials, mandrake root, a list of medications, and a laboratory technician's certificate. The nature section features a unique panorama of the Karkonosze Mountains (5 meters by 2 meters), birds and animals of these mountains, and a curiosity – a two-headed calf – once born in this area. The Museum also frequently presents temporary exhibitions, thematically related to the Museum's program, such as "The Karkonosze Mountains in Winter," "The Karkonosze Mountains in Old Graphics," "The Olympic Poster," "Liczyrzepa, Ruler of the Karkonosze Mountains," and "Poles in the Karkonosze Mountains." You can also see the most valuable memorabilia associated with Tadeusz Różewicz here: the Nike Award, the Polish literary award, and many others, such as the poet's manuscripts and works related to the Karkonosze Mountains. When the poet visits Karpacz, he can often be found in the alpine garden—his favorite spot, offering a magnificent view of the eastern Karkonosze Mountains.
